       无论经历身体的出走，或是艺术界限的消解，潘凯始终期望以一种耐人寻味的形式留住人类的一点幻想，去对抗现实中既定的秩序，以另外一种方式寻找我们在繁杂的文明社会中失去的稚拙、清新、幻想，同时暗示着深藏于宇宙空间中的神秘能量，它处于有形世界的背后，连接着汹涌浩瀚的无形世界，究竟我们这些小小的颗粒是从哪里来到世界的，来到这里以前我们又是什么，我们现今对这个世界的改造所释放的能量是被定格了吗？还是进入能量的链条中循环不止。这对我们所有人来说是一个巨大的迷，也是潘凯创作活动的直接源动力。

       潘凯的作品是以身体为界限，分为内外两个方面，一是存在于我们身体内部的决定我们行动的微观物态，比如意识的颗粒，它们属于我们，我们却无从感知它们的存在，我们的行为又受到它们的支配，我们与它们的距离既近又远。二是存在于我们身体以外的外部空间，它包括万物甚至宏观的宇宙，这些不属于我们，而且我们和万物都从属于这个宏观的宇宙，受到宇宙中恒定法则的宏观调控，我们与它们的距离既远又近。在这样的两极之间，身体的内与外之间，它们在本质上有着相互对应的关系。这也正是本次个展的主题所在--“±0“。

       潘凯从执着的试验、体验、经验中，摸索出自己特有的雕塑语言，凭借自身对雕塑独有的自然感观神经迸发出一系列的创作。潘凯用他的雕塑告诉我们他所经历的，思考的，蜕变的一切内容。在当今这个浮华焦躁的时代，请大家放慢您的脚步，抛开暂时的喧嚣，卸下您厚重的“铠甲”，一起遨游在潘凯—“±0”的世界中。

       作品介绍：
       1.《银心》
       这件作品是有关银河系中心的异想，带有很强的主观色彩，我想以一种简单的形式将人们带到一个现实以外的遥远话题中去，它遥远到让你忘记眼前的一切，回到孩提时代对宇宙的想象，中央的中心以凹陷的星形进入内部，内部有蓝色的光芒映出，希望能营造宇宙神秘的色彩，在幽蓝的光照下，我们的身体会映射到作品蓝紫色的身体上，产生略有扭曲的镜像，在相互观照的过程中，我们也因此又一次面对这样的问题——我们从哪里来？我们到哪里去？我们是谁？
 
       2. 《思想实验》
       在这组作品中，我希望通过作品传达这样一个意念，就是作为一种生命形式，我们的身体存在于微观和宏观的两极之间，然而这看似遥远的两极却有着让人惊叹的相似之处。在微观领域，我选取了人类的神经元的组织结构作为考察的对象，因为神经元作为人类产生意识的最微小的单元，它几乎决定着人类所有行动的开始，这行动涵盖了我们对世界的所谓改造。当我回到人类意识本源的这一物质载体的时候，发现神经元纤维素的脉络在空间造型上的独特意味，它们在形态上浑然无廓却又豁然贯通，在无序中又有着自身精妙的空间架构，这种架构强调着它自身所蓄积的难以名状的能量，就是这样一个微小而神秘的物质，却是人类所有伟大思想的载体，自由精神的源泉，这使我为之着迷，陶醉其中。我结合着自己个人的想象，将这些神经元组织单元进行放大重构，去揣摩它的空间脉络，发现它的纯美之意，感悟它的有无相生。我像一个孩子一样去塑造它，接近它，同时希望在靠近微观的这一路径上发现和暗示另一极——宏观宇宙本体的神秘能量。宇宙中的纯美的境界就像黑暗中的烛光，它就在那里，神采奕奕，吸引着我们向它靠近却又无法抓住，它始终就在前面，留给我们无限的空间去体悟它谜一般的光辉。宇宙的这种境界是超艺术的，它超越一切由人类片段经验所营造的艺术形式，然而它对我们来说又是亲和的，无论如何，人类都是宇宙的某种应力造就的，是宇宙的儿女，我相信作为人类意识的物质载体——神经元的特定形态和宇宙本体之间的亲缘关系是存在的。在完成作品的过程中，我希望体现人类精神思想上积极的一面，让人们看到它所折射的光辉，但在纷杂的现实中，我们有多少思想能体现这样的光辉，又有多少念头是背离它的，我们自己也很难说清。
 
       3.《旋涡》
       这组作品的形成是这样的，我选择了几件我们生活中常见的东西作为母题，像指纹、头发的旋儿，荔枝的壳，它们都是自然的造化，我发现它们在形态上具有同一的造型规律，都带有宇宙神秘能量下旋涡星云的意念。我在做的过程中强化了这种感觉，做了些改变，试图让它们更加单纯和鲜明，更加图像化。当旋涡的特征被抽离出来的时候，它仿佛成为一个logo，刻写着我们、万物与宇宙的种种联系。

       Pan Kai, who has experienced escape of the body, or the disappearance of art boundary, always wishes to retain some imagination of the human being in a form of meditation, to protest against the established order of the reality, to make the uncertainties in life survive, and in an alternative way, to find back the naivety, imagination and refreshing that are lost in the complex civilization of the society. His artworks also suggest a mysterious energy in the universe that exists behind the physical world, linking the intangible massive and mighty world. Where on earth do we, the little particulate matter, come from? What were we before coming to this world? Is it that we have exhausted all our energy that we have needed so far for changing the world? Or are we in the energy circulating chain? These questions seem mysteries to all of us, but serve as the direct motivation of Pan Kai’s art creation. 
 
       There are two aspects of Pan Kai’s artworks which is either inside or outside the body. One exists inside the body which determines the micro physical state of our behavior, like the particulate matter of our consciousness. It belongs to us but inexistent to us, but determines our behavior. It is close to us but seems to be at arm’s length. The other aspect exists outside our body, including everything and even the magnificent universe, but these don’t belong to us, and these and we are subordinate to the universe, governed by the universal laws. They are distant but seem close at hand. The space inside or outside of the body seems kind of strange, but at the same time there exists some kind of correlation. That’s exactly the topic of this exhibition ----“±0”. 
 
       Pan Kai has gradually found the form of expression that is unique to his own sculpture through repeated experiments and experiences. A series of artworks have been created with his unique physical sensory nerves for sculpture. With his sculptures, the artist relates to the audience all that he has experienced and thought over and all that has been changed. In this chaos of blundering world, it’s suggested that you slow down your pace, put aside the temporary chaos, unload your burdensome “loricae”, and enjoy Pan Kai’s artworks themed as “±0”. 
 
      “‘±0‘ –Solo Exhibition by Pan Kai” will be on from September 24, 2011 through November 15, 2011 at the Shanghai LeVant Gallery. We are looking forward to your coming!

        Introduction to Some of the Artworks:
        1. Galactic Center
       Galactic Center t is about the whimsy about the galaxy center that bears much of subjectivity. I want to employ a simple form to bring people into a topic remote from the reality, so remote as to make you forget everything around, and return to childhood imagination about the universe. The sunken area in a star like form is set in the center, radiating blue lights from inside. By so doing I hope to create a mysterious atmosphere where in the blue lights our body will be projected onto the body in the artwork in a blue-purple color, producing kind of twisted mirror image. During the conversation between our body and the mirror image, we are faced with the same kind of questions: Where do we come from? Where are we heading for? Who are we? 
       2. Thought Experiment 
       It’s my hope for the artwork entitled Thought Experiment to express such an idea that our body, as a life form, exists between the seemingly remote micro and macro poles which have surprising similarities. In the micro area, I choose the organizational structure of human neurons as the subjects of study, because neurons as the minimal unit of producing consciousness, almost determine all the initial behavior of human beings, the behavior that includes what we call the transform of the world. When I rethink the material media of human consciousness, I find unique hidden meaning in the special structure that the choroids of neurotic fibrin convey. These choroids have no tangible form but can be seen suddenly in a clear light, with a delicate spatial structure in the state of disorder. This kind of spatial structure highlights the nameless energy it has saved. It is the little mysterious matter that serves as the media of all human thoughts, and the spring of freedom of spirit, in which I was intoxicated. Based on my own imagination, I magnify the neurotic structure and reconstruct the neuron in order to find out its spatial choroids and the meaning of its being pure and beautiful, perceiving the existence of to be or not to be. I remold and approach the neuron as if I were a child and hope at the same time to discover and suggest another pole—the mysterious energy of the universe itself. The state of being pure and beautiful is like the candle light in the darkness. It is always there, energetic and attracting us to approach it but keeping us from catching it. It is always in front of us, leaving us limitless room for perceiving its charming light. This phenomenon of the universe can be said as a kind of super art, going beyond all the art forms created by transient human experience. However, the super art seems to us compatible. In any case, human beings are constituted by a certain stress, and they are the daughters of the universe. As the media of human consciousness, the neuron has a special state of the neurotic unit that is akin to the universe itself. In the completion of this project, I hope that the works exhibits the positive side of the human spiritual world, and then people can see the light reflected by the works. I keep asking myself: In the chaos of the reality, how many thoughts have the chance to be reflected in this kind of light? How many ideas we have are against the light? We are not clear about these questions. 
       3. Vortex  
       In the beginning of creating Vortex, I chose several things that are common in our daily life as the topic, like finger prints, the twirl of head hair, the shell of litchi which are the nature’s delicate products. I find them with the same regular designs in shape and with the concept of spiral galaxy initiated by the mysterious energy of the universe. In practice, we highlighted this sense of feeling and made some changes, trying to make them brighter, purer and more visual. When the characteristic of the twirl have been extracted, it seems to have become a logo, representing us and the various kinds of associations between everything and the universe.
