杜杰感受到了塞舌尔的神秘和魔力，大地和海洋的颤动。他是极富领悟力的，意识到在这些古老的岛屿上，在这些茂密的热带丛林中，有一种野性的存在，也许我们可以短暂地驯服这些原始的生物和环境，可是却永远无法征服它们。杜杰在这次水墨作品中所面临的最大挑战是如何在充分表现他在塞舌尔的所闻所感和他最擅长的技法之间找到一个平衡点，如何充分体现一个中国艺术家所感受的塞舌尔式亲密接触，同时保持开放，让他能够充分运用他擅长的色彩在画纸画布上自由挥洒，如同阳光在马埃、普拉兰和拉迪戈岛上自由延展。

DU Jie felt the chemistry and the magic of Seychelles, all these vibrations sent by the land and sea. He was receptive, having guessed that in these antique islands, in this vegetal jumble, something wild has subsisted and you never master things and elements and creatures around you but just tame some, temporarily. 
Back from the archipelago the artist told me in a very humble way that the biggest challenge was to express what he saw and felt, and find a balance between the two that would enable him to appropriate the very perception of what he had under his eyes, to turn it into “ his” interpretation of the islands, something personal and intimate and full of his Chinese identity but open to the world and to the colors of the world that he is so good at distributing on paper and canvass like the day spreads the light on Mahe, Praslin and la Digue, the three fortunate islands he visited.
