“孤芳——刘桂艳当代油画作品展”开幕

 由北京名•潮国际文化有限公司主办的《孤芳——刘桂艳当代油画作品展》，于2011年3月15日在北京市798艺术区红石广场名•潮艺术空间开幕。这个展览得到江汉大学现代艺术学院的支持。
 本次展览展出了女性艺术家刘桂艳近年创作的一批油画新作，这些作品以魔幻现实主义的技法，借鉴了卡通的色彩及造型，通过戏剧化的场景和动画般的色彩，使画面呈现出异样的美的同时，表现出一种空灵孤寂的画境，其揭示出的“孤芳现象”令人思考。
 这次展览将持续至4月15日结束。

by Guiyan Liu opens

 Lonely Beauty——The Exhibition of Contemporary Oil Paintings by Guiyan Liu orginazed by Ming Chao International Cultural Co.Ltd opens at 15th March in Ming Chao Art Museum in Hongshi Square of 798 Art Zone with the support of School of Modern Art of Jianghan University.
 The exhibition shows the oil painting works of the artist—Guiyan Liu in recent years. The works not only express the special beauty by the magical realism skills, the cartoon color and figure and the dramatic scene, but also put up a lonely painting mood. The “Lonely Beauty Phenomenon” leaves us something to think about.
 The exhibition ends on 15th, May.

“孤芳现象”

 爱美，是人类之共性。大凡美的东西，人们总是趋之若鹜，群起效仿，众望所归。
 然而，在刘桂艳的画里，我们在感受美的同时，相伴的却是一种莫名的孤独。
 美丽的圆脸、大眼、秀发，时尚的红衣、长靴、头花，一个少女应有的美她都具备了，却仍摆脱不了孤独的心境：对镜梳妆更像是孤芳自赏，路遇的人也不见踪影，听诊的是玩具熊，陪伴的是卷毛狗……空旷的背景和蓝灰的色调，更让这种孤独显得漫无边际，令人既赏心悦目，又惆怅悠远。
 也许，和所有女性一样，刘桂艳有着对美的憧憬和渴慕，对安逸、闲适生活的眷恋，她的作品为我们打开了一个洋溢着美的宁静空旷的世界。但她没有止步于此，而是运用女性与生俱来的敏锐情感和对生活的直觉感悟，发掘了一种与美的逻辑不尽吻合的画境——“孤芳”。在轻松、飘逸的表象下面，潜隐的是她对社会、生活情境的理性反思，因而能够把观众心理导向人物背后的精神思索，这使作品具有很强的观念性。在技法上，非真实的色彩处理在强烈的视觉感受中，隐隐透出“孤芳”的易损易毁的不安全感，使作品能够赋予柔弱稚嫩的形象以艺术语言而非外在形式的张力，并具有十分敏感而不露声色的心理暗示性。
 在现实中，“孤芳”是一种普遍现象，美并不一定会被响应的，相反在许多情况下，美会受到各方面的排斥、损害甚至摧残，而其中让美孤独，是一种看似温和却很有效的损害方式。这种现象不仅存在于人际之中，在社会各领域都屡见不鲜。为什么会有“孤芳现象”？这或许是刘桂艳的作品留给人们延伸思考的问题。

"Lonely Beauty Phenomenon"

 Loving beauty, is the commonality of human beings. Almost all the beautiful things, people always scramble for it, rush to imitate and give warmest welcome.
 However, in Liu Guiyan's paintings, the beauty we feel is accompanied by a sense of loneliness.
 Beautiful round face, big eyes, hair, fashionable red clothes, boot, headdress flower, she possesses the beauty which a young girl should have, but still can't get away from a mood of  loneliness: dressing in the mirror is more like a narcissist, the encountered people also vanished, the auscultator is a toy bear and her accompanied poodle...... Empty backgrounds and blue gray tonal, leaving this loneliness seems endless, it is not only enjoyable, but also giving people a distant melancholy feeling.

 Perhaps, like all other women, Liu Guiyan is longing for beauty and wish a leisurely and comfortable life. Her works presented us a beautiful world of quietness and hollowness. But she didn’t stop her steps, her using women’s sensitive emotion and intuitive perception of life, explored a painting mood that doesn’t match with the logic of beauty---- " Lonely Beauty". Under an image of relax, elegant is her rational reflection to society and life. And thus she is very skilled to lead audiences to thinking the spirit which behind paintings, making her works a strong conception. In technique, the non-true color processing in a strong visual perception, indistinctly revealed a sense of insecurity that" lonely beauty" is easily destroyed, so that works can entrust a tender puerile image with artistic language rather than external form tension, as well as a very sensitive and undemonstrative psychological implications.
 In real world, "Lonely Beauty" is a common phenomenon, beauty will not be necessary responded. On the contrary, in many cases, beauty will be repelled, destroyed even trampled in all respects, of which letting beauty alone is a seemingly gentle but very effective damage way. This phenomenon not only exists in interpersonal relations, but also very common in other social fields. Why there is a " Lonely Beauty Phenomenon"? This may be an extension question which Liu Guiyan’s works left to the people to think about.
