时间的底纹:五个艺术家

新千年以来的文明从未变得如此自我忧患。人类边建立边摧毁,一边痴心信奉、不遗余力地探求科学,一边求助于宗教、文学、艺术等进行自我治疗和救赎。我们今天所言的艺术似乎只是由其中一部分人的视听虚妄发展而来,它天然不派生意义。它既不是必须,也不是瘟疫,既不高尚也不低微,它就如一种微生物,存在于文明的时间肌体里。 此次展览,或许就是对时间性在艺术中的呈现方式做一个集结性的研究。
藉由时间的消磨或发酵,五位艺术家以一己之眼,使作品获得了某种图式符号之外的力量。无论时间从物质载体中,诗一样穿过,抵达孤高或日常,还是艺术家依靠修炼般的密集劳作,对时间本身进行解读,时间都成为他们的正面主题,其中的暗含亦或无奈感伤,亦或怡然自得。由此,这些作品产生了特殊的冥想气质和诚信层面的可信性。也就是说,在这些绘画、现场绘画和装置作品中,时间的概念感被“苦修”的创作行为所取而代之,“苦修”成就时间的底纹,也顺势提出了视觉背后的问题针对性和思考点。
董大为以别具匠心的“物质绘画”,探讨并挑衅了传统绘画概念,甚至在媒介成见中架设了一条智巧的虹桥。Sun Drawing是王令杰和郝经芳共同创作的一件“关于太阳,能量,时间,空间的作品”。这个或可被视作“能量斑点”的作品以一种科学般的理性气质和迹化方法直接指涉了时间性。李战豪作品笔法绵密理性,制作需要较长时间,他以诉诸工艺美感的操作实现对绘画性的理解。于艾君的作品以多形态但殊途同归的纸本绘画,探讨一种非知识性的语言架构,试图使其实践成为一种具有个人气质的“绘画文体”。
The Shade of Time: Five Artists

A civilization with thousands of years of history has never been so perturbed. Human construction and destruction go hand in hand; they worship and are in relentless pursuit of science while seeking redemption and salvation through religion, literature and art. The art that we talk about today seems to be derived from the visual fabrication of some people and it has no natural connotation. Art is neither a necessity nor a pestilence; art is neither noble nor humble. It is like a microorganism that exists in the flesh of time of the civilization. This exhibition is perhaps a collective study of the presentation of time in art.
Thanks to time being frittered away or fermented, the five artists have unanimously endowed their works with a power that transcends pictorial emblems. Whether time traverses material carriers in a poetic way and arrives at “lofty seclusion” or “mundaneness”, whether the artists interpret time through intense and abstinent toil, time is the theme of their depiction. Their works may imply helpless moroseness or pleasure and ease, resulting in special meditative ethos and credibility. In other words, the conception of time is replaced by the abstinence that characterizes art production. Abstinence has given rise to the shade of time and raised the pertinent issues and point of contemplation behind the visual images.
So unique is Dong Dawei’s “substance art” in exploring and challenging traditional painting concept that it has built an ingenious bridge of rainbow against the prejudice of the medium. A collaborative work by Wang Lingjie and Hao Jingfang, “Sun Drawing” deals with “the Sun, energy, time and space”. This work, which may be seen as an “energy spot”, discusses the concept of time in a rational and distinctively scientific manner. The strokes in Li Zhanghao’s works are so meticulous and full of reasoning that the production of his work is time-consuming. He achieves the understanding of paintings through craftsmanship aesthetics. Divergent and varied in form but convergent in objective, the works of Yu Aijun, explore a lingual structure that is not knowledge oriented. He tries to turn his practice into a “pictorial literary form” with a touch of his exclusive flavor.
